Vintage diamond set crescent moon brooch. This sparkly 9 carat yellow and white gold waning crescent moon is set with 15 round brilliant cut diamonds which are graduated in size. At the ends of row of diamonds are beaded white gold dots, adorning the moon right to the very point. The diamonds are set into white gold with the edges of the yellow gold peaking through in keeping with how it's older relatives would have been made. Circa 1970s, British in origin.

Crescent moons in British Victorian jewellery symbolise change and new beginnings, such as marriage. This is a more modern piece made in a Victorian style.

In very good condition, a lovely piece which has been crafted well.

Diamonds: 15 round brilliant cut measuring approx 1 mm to 2.8 mm and calculated as 0.60 carats total, I / J colour, SI1 / SI2 clarity as calculated within the limits of the mounting.

Hallmarked for 9 carat gold, assayed in London 1979.

Measures approx 26.5 mm / 1.05 inches tall not including the bail by 24.7 mm / 0.97 inches wide as it hangs.

Weighs 4.7 grams.
