Vintage opal set 9 carat gold brooch. This unique brooch is designed as an asymmetrical flower. The leafs swirl up from the base, curving and curling gently toward the bezel set opal doublet. The opal is incredibly fiery and beautiful with a play of colour which is simply beyond! The pin back follows the lines of the front. Circa 2nd quarter of the 20th century, British in origin.
In very good condition, there are slight marks to the top of the opal in keeping with age.
Opal doublet is oval in shape measuring approx 11.80 mm by 8.50 mm. Fantastic play of colour with blue, green and orange swirls.
Stamped 9ct on the back, professionally tested and assessed at 9 carat gold which is yellow in colour.
Measures approx 45.8 mm / 1.8 inches by 24.3 mm / 0.95 inches.
Weighs 4.1 grams.
