Victorian trombone link sterling silver chain. This chain is really wonderful! Elongated trombone style links alternate with a shorter love knot design link. The substantial oval links are made from substantial 2.25 mm silver wire. This is a classic style, lovers knots with oblong links. One end of the chain terminates at a large dog clip clasp which does not swivel. The other end terminates at a t-bar. I think the t-bar has been moved previously. There's an extra jump ring in the pattern, two from the dog clip end, and I think the t-bar was originally located there since t-bars normally have their own jump ring. Circa late 19th century, Victorian era, British in origin.
In very good condition. The dog clip is springy and the hallmark on the t-bar is very crisp.
LHallmarked for sterling silver, 1897 on the t-bar and one of the jump rings. The elongated links are marked with the lion for sterling silver on the links. Professionally tested and assessed as sterling silver throughout.
Measures 38 cm / 15 inches in wearable length, oblong links are approx 7.8 mm wide by 26.85 mm long.
