Beautiful foliate engraved Victorian sterling silver buckle bracelet. Panels of silver are engraved with a floral style design and shaped into a gentle curve. Each panel is connected to the next with a hinge which allows this bracelet to move and flex. The buckle is wider than the rest of the bracelet is is formed in a scalloped edge design which follows the foliate engraving. A single hinged prong secures this bracelet in place. At the end, the last three panels of the bracelet have circular shaped notches and the tongue comes to a point. An engraved loop is secured on the bracelet, staying in place with a wider hinge which keeps it from getting lost. Circa late Victorian period, approx 1880s.
Not hallmarked, tested as sterling silver throughout.
Adjustable length of approx 13.5 cm / 5.5 inches for smallest notch, 15 cm / 5.9 inches for middle notch, and 16.5 cm / 6.5 inches for largest notch. Measurements given are approx, each panel is curved making precise measurements difficult.
Measures approx 3.5 cm / 1.35 inches at widest point of buckle and bracelet is 1.6 cm / 0.65 inches wide. Length end to end is 20.7 cm / 8.15 inches.
