An incredible Victorian era rose cut diamond pendant. A 6.3 mm rose cut diamond is set into a fine silver topped bezel. The diamond shines from this simple, flattering setting. Throughout history diamonds have usually been set in white metals and true to it's Victorian era nature it's been set in silver which was used before platinum, and later white gold, came into use in jewellery. The back side of the collet is yellow gold. There is a small hook, coiled within the collet, which would have originally connected this piece to another jewel. We've left it in case the new owner wishes to further alter it, such as adding a gemstone drop. We've added a simple bail to make this rose cut diamond into a wearable pendant and we're used 18 carat white gold to keep the entire front face up white. Circa 1860s - 1880 diamond and collet, modern conversion.
Diamond: rose cut, measures approx 6.3 mm wide. Rose cut diamonds are shallow, flat bottomed and facets coming to a point at the top. We've calculated it to weigh approx 0.38 carats though it faces up much larger because of it's cut. Approx H / I colour, I1 clarity and eye clean at a normal viewing distance.
Not marked. The base of the collet which touches the skin is 15 carat yellow gold, the top of the collet is silver, and the bail that we've added is 18 carat white gold.
Measures approx 15.9 mm tall including the bail by 7.2 mm wide.
Weighs 0.6 grams.
