Victorian rose cut diamond engagement ring. A single pear shape rose cut diamond is set into a love heart shaped platinum top. The diamond is absolutely lovely! My husband remarked that he'd never seen a pear shape rose cut in person before. I'm smitten too. The rose cut diamond is a pear or tear drop in shape. It's set in a platinum topped setting which is shaped into a delicate heart shape, dipping slightly at top to create the love heart design. The platinum top is engraved around the edges of the diamond. The band is solid 18 carat yellow gold, and has a split shank design near the diamond. Circa mid to late 1800s, British in origin.
Rose cut diamonds are an older cutting style with flat bottoms and all the facets on top. The large flat facets on the top create a domed shape, coming to a point at the very top. This cutting style was used during the 1500s through the 1800s.
Diamond: pear shaped rose cut, measures approx 4.8 mm long and 3.2 mm wide and 1.25 mm deep. Due to the cut of rose cuts, they are incredibly hard to accurate estimate weight in setting, please refer to the measurements.
