Antique single stone diamond ring dating to the Victorian era. An old cushion shape mine cut diamond is set into an 18 carat yellow gold six claw setting. Old mine cut diamonds were cut by hand with master cutters carefully faceting the gemstones so they looked their best in the lighting of the times. The diamond is displayed in a beautiful engraved setting. Deeply carved flourishes in a scroll design taper matching the shape of the setting perfectly. Circa mid Victorian, 1860s, British in origin.
Diamond: old mine cushion cut, approx 4 mm to 4.25 mm and estimated in setting as 0.24 carats, K colour, SI1 clarity.
Marked 18ct, this ring is 18 carat yellow gold. This ring has been partly reshanked, tested as 18 carat throughout.
