A gold chain is a classic jewellery staple and with a fancy clasp, this one is just lovely! The simple rounded link chain is of a medium thickness with nicely domed links. The clasp, known as a safety clasp or pearl clasp, is adorned with a bezel set sapphire to the centre and sweet little flourishes on either side. This chain could be worn with the clasp to the front for a little bit of fancy! Circa late 19th century.

Sapphire: round cut, cornflower blue of approx 2.5 mm.

Stamped 9ct on the back of the clasp, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold throughout. The gold is between yellow and rose as antique gold usually is, though it's closer to rose gold in colour.

Measures approx 40.5 / 16 inches in length. Clasp is 13.6 mm by 4.9 mm. Width of chain is 3.35 mm.

Weighs 5.4 grams.
