
Antique swallow engraved locket dating to the early 20th century. Around the left side is a floral bouquet with a large single swallow to the right. On the back the floral design wraps three-quarters of the way around the left side with a swallow nearly sitting on the flower. Circa 1890s - 1920.
Victorians loved the use of swallows in jewellery. They symbolise a safe return home and are often used in nautical themes. Inside the locket are two frames and one plastic covering. The locket closes well and is in very good wearable condition with minor dents in keeping with age and wear.
Stamped 9ct Front and Back. The engraved section on the front and back is 9 carat gold, which is rose in colour. The internal section including the frames is metal.
Measures approx 24.3 mm / 0.96 inches across.
