The most delightful vintage snake necklace! This snake sits with it's head overlapping tail at the front, so it sits just at the suprasternal notch. It's head is beautifully engraved in a few contrasting patterns to give it a scaled look and fiery red rubies are inset for eyes. The body of this snake is a chunky oval shaped turbogas, or gas pipe, style link with wide deep ridges making it flexible. This is such a tactile piece which looks great paired with a lot of necklines. Circa 1960s, British in origin.

The push, tongue and groove style clasp is easy to use, keeping the necklace lined up perfectly and an attached safety catch makes a firm clicking sound when properly engaged.

Hallmarked for 9ct gold, Birmingham 1965 with a maker's mark of Cropp & Farr. Cropp & Farr was founded in the 1910s and was a London based jeweller in business for approximately a century.

Measures approx 40 cm / 15.75 inches by 6.3 mm wide.

Weighs 33.8 grams.
