Old mine cut diamond pendant. This diamond is a bright old cut with nice chunky facets and typical old cut proportions including a higher crown, tiny table and large open culet. The diamond is secured in six silver claws which meet on a 15 carat gold rounded section to form a collet. This pendant is then made complete by our additional of an 18 carat white gold bail so that it can be hung on a chain.

What a unique find this is! Silver was the go to white metal in the Victorian era before platinum, and later white gold, were in use. This old diamond has it's original collet, made of a gold rounded section which touches the ear and silver claws. We love that these are in their original collets approx 140 year old collets!

The collet came to us loose, having likely been a side stone in a ring at some point. We've used recycled gold to make a bail. Circa 1880s diamonds and collets, modern conversion.

Diamond: old mine cut, approx 4.25 mm wide and calculated as 0.38 carats, H / I colour, VS2 clarity within the limits of the mounting.

Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as silver claws atop 15 carat gold collet. We've added an 18 carat white gold bail so that this pendant faces up entirely white.

Measure 9 mm tall including the bail by 5.2 mm wide.

Weigh 0.3 grams.

This pendant can be added to a modern 9 carat white gold chain, as shown on model. Please choose the length you require at checkout.
