Stunning old European cut diamond solitaire engagement ring set in platinum. There are some rings that I have a hard time letting go of and this is one of them! The diamond is a large old European cut, an antique style of cutting which displays a small table (top of the diamond), an open culet (flat facet at the bottom of the diamond), and a steeply angled sloping crown. The diamond is shown off to perfection in a six double claw platinum setting. From the top view the setting looks plain with a medium width flat shaped band. The sides of this ring have it all! Underneath the sloping shoulders scrolling filigree work decorates the gallery. The sides of the shank are engraved about halfway around.
This ring sits low to the finger with the platinum of the gallery very slightly wider than the diamond. This makes this ring incredibly easy to wear and a very elegant solitaire which is a bit different. Dates to the early 20th century, around 1910s.
Diamond: old European cut, measures approx 6.84 mm to 6.86 mm by 3.79 mm deep. Weighed out of setting as 1.19 carats. Assessed as M / N colour, VS clarity.
