Narrow platinum diamond half hoop wedding ring.  This ring holds 20 single / eight cut diamonds which are set half way around the the band.  The diamonds cover the entire top of the finger.  The back side of this ring is engraved with a small ridged detail to the top and bottom giving it a bit of visual interest. Circa 1920s - 1930s.

This style of ring was sometimes used as an anniversary ring.  Holes are formed in the back of the setting where it touches the finger allowing for a jeweller to easily be able to add an additional diamond on each anniversary with the eventual goal of making this into a full hoop eternity diamond ring.  The sentiment is sweet though this does seem to be a bit more a grand idea rather than how it worked in practice!  The add a diamond bands I normally acquire have the correct amount for an anniversary, in this case 20, but don't often seem to have an irregular number to incidicate that they were worked on every year.  I believe this ring was probably originally a 20th anniversary gift.

Diamonds: 20, single cut, approx 0.20 carats total weight.  Most are G - I colour, two are slightly warmer at K - L colour.  All SI clarity.

Not hallmarked, tested as Platinum.

Size: UK - N 1/2;  US - 7;  EU - 54 1/3.

Measures 2.3 mm wide and rises approx 1.45 mm tall on the finger.

Weighs 2.8 grams.
