Large Victorian sterling silver locket. Oval in shape with a beaded edge, it looks modern in the way that late Victorian jewellery often does! The centre is raised with a geometric beaded pattern. On either side of this is an engraved flower design. The back is unadorned other than a ridge around the outer edge. A large bail, a teardrop shape typical of the Victorian era, would allow a significant chain, such as a book chain, to work with this locket. Circa 1870s, British in origin.

In very good condition with minor scratches and wear. This is a large locket, please press on the edge rather than centre to close it as pressing in the centre chances denting it. It closes firmly with an audible sound. There are two frames, no photo covering.

Hallmarked for sterling silver, assayed in Birmingham, 1876. Hallmarks are rubbed from use and age.

Measures approx 46.8 mm / 1.85 inches tall not including the bail, 61.4 mm / 2.4 inches tall including the bail, by 33.2 mm / 1.3 inches wide, by 13.4 mm / 0.53 inches deep.

Weighs 13.7 grams. Locket and chain sold separately.
