Antique 9 carat gold heart shaped clasp charm. This heart is designed in a lock style shape. Unusually both the front and back sides are fully engraved! The front is engraved is a beautiful floral design featuring two conjoined flowers. The back is adorned in ivy. Since ivy takes hold it's meaning in antique jewellery is simply that, I cling to thee, a romantic sentiment. We love that it's the back side, the side you'd wear against your skin, facing only the wearer, which is decorated in ivy. A sweet sentiment purely for the wearer to know. A top loop clicks into place, allowing this heart to be secured to an item. The clasp is tight and holds very well. At the side of the loop is a small bail to allow this item to threaded through a safety chain. This versatile piece can be worn as a charm, clasp or pendant. Circa 1910s, British in origin.
