An absolutely amazing gentleman's diamond single stone ring dating to the late 1890s. There are times when you stumble across a beauty...and this is it! The old mine cut diamond is set low to the finger in eight claws. The antique diamond is beautifully cut with a small table, visible open culet and chunky facet pattern. The claws flow down the shank of the ring, meshing perfectly in one smooth band of gold.

This ring would have belonged to a gentleman, and quite a wealthy one at all. The fashion of the time was for larger rings, solid in construction, to be worn on the little finger. Often these ring would have gotten quite worn with not having a finger on either side to protect it as well as the ring being exposed to harder wear with a male owner. This ring is in very good condition with the claws securely holding the diamond, a nice heavy shank, and clear hallmarks. In modern society with everyone wearing larger pieces it would be suited to a woman who prefers a bolder look as well. Circa 1890s, British in origin.

Diamond: old mine cut, measures approx 5.6 mm and is estimated in setting as 0.63 carats, I colour, VS clarity. Graded as setting permits.
