Blue Sapphire Stud Earrings. Large Bright Blue Synthetic Sapphires Set in 9 Carat White Gold 4 Claw Prong Petal Shaped Settings.
Add to WishlistStunning synthetic sapphire earrings set in white gold. The round cut sapphires are an incredible royal blue colour. They've been removed from a piece of Art Deco jewellery which was beyond repair and set into new 9 carat white gold stud earring settings. The settings are a simple 4 prong martini type of style. The settings allow the sapphires to be seen almost entirely from their setting while still protecting the culet, or pointed bottom of the stone. The curvy and simple settings show off the sapphires and their stunning colour.
Sapphires: synthetic, round cut measuring 6.5 - 6.6 mm across, each approx 1.25 carats for a total carat weight of 2.5. These sapphires were taken from a broken 1930s piece and reset as earrings. The sapphires are synthetic, or lab created, a process which has been around since the turn of the 20th century. They have the same chemical makeup as natural sapphires but have been created rather than earth mined. The colour is a georgous, incredible royal blue, not overly dark or purple. One of the sapphires shows minor age related wear to the girdle visible under a loupe.
Hallmarked for 9 carat white gold. The settings are new and in keeping with EU standards, are a non-nickel alloy. The settings are palladium white gold.
Measure 6.5 - 6.6 mm across, and sit approx 5.3 - 5.4 mm tall.
