Sapphire and diamond drop pendant dating to the Art Deco era. This drop style pendant features square cut blue sapphire and roughly cut diamonds set into 18 carat white gold. The top sapphire is kite set, at an angle with its points to the top, bottom and sides. A small bezel set diamond is under that. A long white gold topped bar with a fluid shape connects the diamond to another bezel set diamond. At the bottom is a kite set sapphire with rows of little diamonds with a pierced design lined in milgrain beading between them. This pendant is articulated in several places so that it can move freely. Circa 1920s - 1930s.
The gemstones are set into a white gold top and the back side of the pendant is 18 carat yellow gold.
The chain is a simple link, 18 carat white gold trace chain.
Sapphires: 2, square shaped, step-cut, approx 3.2 mm each, and calculated in setting as 0.40 carats total sapphire weight.
Diamonds: 8, rough cut.
Not hallmarked, tested as 18 carat gold.
Drops 4.1 cm / 1.6 inches and measures 1.4 cm wide across widest point.
Chain is 42 cm / 16.5 inches and tested as 18 carat gold.
