Fantastic Art Deco diamond engagement ring set in a platinum triple claw setting. The centre diamond is a lovely European cut diamond with flowery style facet pattern. In keeping with true Art Deco style this ring is secured in triple claw, fishtail style prongs. On either side of the keystone diamond are two smaller single cut diamonds set in u shaped prongs. The shoulders come to a very slight point and a soft knife edge before quickly round into a D shaped shank.

Fishtail style prongs were popular throughout the Art Deco period. They serve to frame the diamond, making it look larger as well as protecting it somewhat more than narrower, single prongs. This style of claws also makes the diamond look a bit more square. The Art Deco period was a transition between the flowery, delicate, ornate Edwardian periods, and the war time eras. Sharper lines and geometric patterns were in vogue. Think Gatsby! This ring dates to the 1930s.

Total carat weight for this ring estimated as setting permits is 0.56 carats.
