Stunning green chalcedony and rock crystal beaded drop earrings. Rich green pear shaped drops of aventurine contrast with a faceted rock crystal. The gemstones swing gently from narrow chains of 9 carat yellow gold. At the top of each earring is a hooked ear wire. The combination of the bright green chalcedony, clear crystal, and yellow gold is very attractive. Circa 1930s, likely European in origin.
Aventurine is a green variety of chalcedony or quartz which is bright green in colour and translucent. The gemstones are in overall very good condition with some slight nics to the edges visible under magnification. This is age related wear as you'd expect from 80 year old earrings.
No hallmarks. The ear wires and chain are tested 9 carat yellow gold. The wire threaded through each aventurine and rock crystal is sterling silver. The ear wires are replacements and are slightly mis-matched. This does not notice when worn and is mentioned for accuracy.
Drop 4.5 cm / 1.75 inches, and are approx 10 mm wide at widest point.
Weigh 4.14 grams.
