Art Deco orange blossom women's wedding ring crafted in 18 carat white gold. A lovely example with bold engraved flowers creating and never ending pattern around the exterior. Orange blossoms were incredible popular in the Victorian era following the use of them by Queen Victorian for her wedding. This band has a low domed exterior and it's slender width makes it easy to pair with other rings. Circa Art Deco era, mid 1910s to 1930s, North American in origin and made by Ostby & Barton Co.
In very good condition with some rubbing to the pattern in keeping with age and use.
Stamped O.B.18K. Professionally tested and assessed as 18 carat gold which is white in colour. O.B. is the maker's mark for Ostby & Barton Co. The company was started in Rhode Island in 1879. Engelhart Cornelius Østby sadly perished on the Titanic. The company continued trading until about the 1950s using the same name. This is a maker that has a well documented history. Østby was born in Norway and emigrated to the States in the late 1860s opening his business about a decade later. He regularly travelled back to Europe to purchase gemstones and materials for his jewellery.
