Victorian sterling silver book chain in a wonderful long length. This is the most fabulous necklace! It looks very modern while being around 150 years old. Oval shaped links are pierced with a series of three lines. These links are oval in profile giving this chain an excellent depth. Each of these links are connected together by a flat link which is scalloped to the edges. The main part of the chain is a great length at 17.5 inches and fastens with a jumbo spring bolt clasp. There's also an extension section which allows this chain to be worn at a longer length or as a drop for a pendant or locket. Circa late 19th century, approx 1880s, British in origin.
In very good condition with everything as it should be! There is some light tarnish on the links particularly where they overlap.
Not marked, professionally tested and assessed as sterling silver throughout.
Measures approx 46.5 cm / 18.25 inches in total wearable length.
The main section is 44.5 cm / 17.5 inches, with an additional section to create a drop from which to hang pendants or lockets as the Victorians would have. Including that section this chain is 48.5 cm / 19 inches in total length.
The chain is approx 14.9 mm wide at widest point. The bolt rings are 18 mm and 14.95 mm in diameter.
Weighs 41.1 grams.
