British hallmarked kilt pin crafted in sterling silver. A very large and incredibly lovely safety pin. This piece would have be designed as a kilt pin and is a nice, hefty sturdy piece designed to hold and secure layers of fabric. I use mine as a brooch on my winter coat and it comes in handy for securing a chunky knitted scarf or shawl. This particular example dates to the early 20th century.

Hallmarked for sterling silver, assayed in Birmingham, date letter for 1905.

Measures approx 7.4 cm / 2.9 inches by 1.4 cm / 0.55 inches. Wire is study and substantial 2 mm.
