Beautiful antique niello and gilt necklace dating to the late Victorian era. Elongated links are twisted so that they lay flat when worn. These silver links are adorned with niello, a black decoration popular at the time. The niello links alternate with a pair of rose gold gilt curb links. The rose gold gilt provides a striking contrast with the silver and niello links. One end of this chain terminates at a dog clip which does not swivel and the other at a large gilt jump ring. Circa 1880s - 1890s, late 19th century.

In good condition with some minor age related wear and loss of the niello, as expected for it's age. The dog clip is strong. It does not swivel.

Not marked, tested as 800 silver (800 parts of 1000, sterling silver is 925 parts of 1000) and 9ct rose gold gilt.

Measures approx 44.5 cm / 17.5 inches in wearable length. Links are approx 4.5 mm wide
