Antique mourning ring dating to the late Georgian to early Victorian era. A forget me not is engraved in a hard stone which is set into the top of this ring. Engraved into the mounting is scrolling foliate designs which are all the way around the band. Inside this ring, engraved in a script, is a personal inscription. It reads, "D.M. ob: 26 dec, 1827. E.M. ob: 27 Nov 1838" This ring commemorates the death of two people, one in 1827 and the other in 1838. Set behind the hard stone is plaited / braided blonde hair under glass. The hair appears to be in good condition.
Gemstone is a hard stone and is in good condition with minor facet wear.
Not marked, tested and assessed as 18 carat gold.
Size: UK - J 1/2; US - 5; EU - 15 3/4. This ring could be sized larger or smaller. Sizing larger would disrupt the engraving at the back of the shank, leaving a blank spot. Sizing available for an additional fee.
Measures approx 9 mm wide and stands 4.4 mm tall off the finger.
