Antique French religious pendant on chain. The front of this silver pendant is adorned with a golden cup with shafts of wheat on either side. Above the chalice is IHS and framing the edge are bunches of grapes and grape leaves. This is a beautiful piece in excellent condition which would have likely been given for a first communion or confirmation.
The silver chain is made of alternating larger and smaller open links with a filigree detail inside. Long and short open ovals connect the filigree links. This chain fastens with an oversized spring bolt clasp which can be worn to the front or back.
The back of the pendant is engraved, "B.F. Leonardt May 29th 1902". Circa Edwardian, early 1900s.
Marked on the bail of the pendant and the terminating jump ring of the chain. Tested as sterling silver. The top of the pendant is decorated with 9 carat rose gold.
Pendant measures approx 4.7 cm / 1.85 inches by2.8 cm /1.1 inches. Chain is approx 45 cm / 17.7 inches long and is approx 4.4 mm wide at widest point.
Weighs 13.65 grams.
