Victorian flat cut garnet and seed pearl mourning brooch. This late Victorian brooch is set with plaited / braided hair under glass framed by seed pearls and flat cut rhodolite garnets. It's been beautiful created as a memorial and engraved to the back, "In memory of my grandmother Jane Stewart Hutchison who died 11th January, 1884". The garnets are lively purplish red with the seed pearls and protective glass in very good condition. The brooch is gold filled with the pin portion in steel for strength.

In good condition. One pearl appears to be a replacement. Slight wear to the garnets can be seen under magnification. The steel pin is bent. All this is age related wear and this brooch is in good wearable condition at over 130 years old.
