Incredible antique diamond ring.  This ring is unique and simply stunning.  Mixed cut diamonds are set across the finger in a pierced sterling silver setting.  The design is somewhat floral and very bold in design.  It's long been popular to set diamonds in white metals to show off how white they are.  Before platinum was used in jewellery and before a white gold alloy was invented the metal of choice was silver.  The bright white metal which was easy to work with, clean, and polish was regularly used through the end of the 19th century.

This ring is set with a bezel set centre diamond which has a pierced filigree design all around it.  The edges of the pierced metalwork are lined with milgrain beading.  On either side of the centre diamond are two smaller diamonds which are bead set next to each other, forming a line across the finger.  To the top and bottom, following the scalloped edges of this ring, are three smaller diamonds.  Dates to the early Victorian period.

Diamonds: mixed cut, centre is a round brilliant replacement and the other ten diamonds are old mine cut, old cushion cut, and single cut diamonds.  The middle five diamonds which form a row are approx 0.08 carats each for a total of 0.40 together and the six diamonds to the top and bottom are approx 0.01 - 0.015 carats each for a total of 0.07 carats together.  Total carat weight, estimated as setting permits is 0.47, I - L colour, SI clarity.

Marked as 18 for 18 carat gold.  The band is 18 carat yellow gold and the top, where the diamonds are set, is silver.

Size: UK - P 1/2;  US - 8;  EU - 57.  Because of how wide this ring is across the finger only limited sizing is available.  It can be sized down to N.5 / 7 or up to R.5 / 9.  Sizing available for an additional fee.

The top measures 10.55 mm by 19 mm and rises 4.55 mm tall from the finger.

Weighs 2.4 grams.
