Antique snake seal crafted in gold tone metal. This little round seal is set with a brilliant purple glass intaglio. The intaglio is engraved BEWARE with a snake in the grass beneath it. It's elegant and well carved. The handle is deeply carved with a scrolling floral design with an urn in the centre. At the top is a large rounded top through which a chain or dog clip could be threaded through so that it could be easily worn as a pendant. Circa mid 19th century, late Georgian to early Victorian.

In very good condition with minor age related wear to the stone and metal.

Measures approx 23.4 mm / 0.92 inch tall and 13.2 mm / 0.52 inches on the bottom.

Weighs 4.1 grams.
