Great antique 9 carat gold working compass pendant. This is a wonderfully crafted piece! A nicely sized compass, with clear markings, has glass coverings on both sides. A bright rose gold bezel holds the glass and the outer edge is decorated with an alternating design of love knots and spheres. The knots are super sweet, we've never seen another like it! I love the combination of functional with aesthetically pleasing. Circa early 20th century, British in origin.
In very good condition, small scratches to the glass and a very small chip visible under magnification, under the bezel edge of the glass.
Hallmarked for 9 carat gold, assayed in Birmingham 1913 from what we can tell. The adornments to the edge partly obscure the hallmarks but it looks like an "o" to us making it 1913.
Measures approx 29.2 mm / 1.15 inches tall not including the bail, by 25.4 mm/ 1 inches wide, by 7.15 mm / 0.28 inches deep.
Weighs 6.4 grams.
