Antique 9 carat gold chain necklace. This chain is made of a figaro style link with one long oval link followed by three smaller rounded links. One end of this chain is connected to a dog clip and the other to a larger jump ring. It can be worn and have pendants attached in multiple ways. There is a maker's mark on the dog clip reading J.G & S for John Grinsell & Sons a jeweller in business between 1871 & the 1920s. This marking is circa 1871 - 1905.

Marked 9c in two places, on the dog clip in front of the maker's mark, and on a plaque on the chain near the dog clip. Tested as 9 carat gold through out.

Measures approx 49.5 cm / 19.5 inches long. Approx 2.82 mm wide.

Weighs 10.75 grams.
