Antique amethyst pendant in a wonderful Etruscan design. The huge amethyst is bezel set with a double rope detailing around the base of the bezel. Little egg shapes are each dotted with a small gold bead. To the top and bottom is a fan shape design. A wider bevelled edge is adorned with accent beads which sit in front of a rope edge with small beads which touch at the very outer edge of this pendant. The design is incredibly detailed with it's delicateness complimenting the vivid and sparkly amethyst. Circa 1880s - 1900, British in origin.

There's been a repair to the back side of the bail. It looks as though the bail has been reinforced or reattached. This would be in keeping with age and wear and is mentioned for accuracy only, this does not affect it's use.

Amethyst: oval in shape, measures approx 20 mm by 14 mm wide and calculated as 11.5 carats within the limits of the mounting.

Not stamped, possibly now illegible stamps on the bail. Professionally tested and assessed as 15 carat gold.

Measures approx 3.66 cm / 1.45 inches tall not including the bail by 2.45 cm / 0.96 inches wide.

Weighs 7.5 grams. This is a sizeable piece with a nice weight to it.
