Beautiful vintage 1940s classic diamond engagement ring. This ring features a transitional cut diamond set in a buttercup style setting. A buttercup style setting has a slightly wider base with the claws taper into the diamond. The edges of the setting are gently curved. The resulting effect is that the base, below the diamond, catches the light when looking at the diamond face on and makes it appear larger. It's a very subtle illusion effect because the setting is below the diamond rather than around it's edges and it works incredibly well! The setting is shaped into a cathedral style and holds an additional 4 accent diamonds, 2 on each side. This very elegant and timeless engagement ring is circa 1935 - 1940s.
