Vintage signet ring from the company Ostby Barton. The oval shape face is engraved, we think, with "RMW". The M in the middle appears to be the largest character. The hand engraved fancy script is just wonderful! On the shoulders is an engraved Lily of the Valley floral design. Lily of the Valley is meant to signal a return to happiness and is the flower for May. Beyond that the shoulders are fluted in shape narrowing sharply at the back. Circa 1920s, North American in origin.

The Ostby and Barton Co. was started in the late 1870s by Engelhart Ostby and Nathan Barton. The company thrived though the early 20th century. In 1912 Mr Ostby was abroad the Titantic when it went down. He was travelling with daughter, Helen, who survived. The surviving family members took over the company which continued to produce jewellery into the 1950s.

Stamped O(10K)B, professionally tested and assessed as 10 carat gold. The O and B are upright with the 10K perpendicularly between the two letters.
