Antique 18 carat yellow gold keeper ring dating to the late Victorian era. This ring is designed as three bands of gold which are plaited / braided on top of the finger. The interwoven design is beautiful, coming from both sides and meeting in the middle. Five gold balls accent the braid where the gold bands cross. Circa 1890s, British in origin.

There are a lot of stories about the meaning and history of keeper rings. One being that they were given as a symbol and promise of a marriage to come, much like a modern engagement ring.

Fully hallmarked for 18 carat gold, assayed in Birmingham, date letter "r" for 1891.

Size: UK - M 1/4; US - 6 3/8; EU - 16.8. Sizes taken from the leading edge. This ring can be sized down to K / 5.3 and up to P.5 / 8. Sizing available for an additional fee.

Measures approx 7.2 mm wide, tapering to 4.8 mm wide at the back, and rises 3.4 mm tall off the finger.

Weighs 6.5 grams. This is a nice, heavy ring and it's in excellent condition!
