Antique amethyst drop earrings. Large pear shape amethyst are bezel / rub over set in yellow gold. The amethysts are a beautiful light purple colour with one having a light striation of colour banding near the tip. These earrings an open backed and the drops are just the perfect size to frame the face. Simple gold pierced ear wires complete the look. Circa 1870s - 1880s.

Amethyst: pear shape, 17.3 mm by 9.9 mm. One has a scratch across the table and both show age related light facet wear.

Not marked, tested as 14 carat gold.

Measure approx 3.5 cm / 1.38 inches long by 10.85 mm at widest point.

Weigh 3.9 grams.
