Antique gold chain necklace with dog clip charm holder. This gold chain is cunningly constructed for a pendant to be fastened directly onto it, allowing the wearer to change out pendants and charms easily. The links are a blecher style with the front section, which would sit between the collar bones, featuring interlocking long links with a small faceted gold sphere between them. Hanging in the centre is a dog clip. It opens and closes with a good spring action. This piece fastens at the back with a small spring bolt clasp. Circa 1900, turn of the 20th century, clasp is a later replacement.

Stamped 9c on dog clip, tag on chain near the terminating jump ring, and 9k on the clasp. Tested and assessed as 9 carat gold throughout.

Chain measures approx 45 cm / 17.7 inches long with a 2.7 cm / 1.05 inch drop.
