Lovely antique engraved ivy leaf band. This wide band, crafted in 18 carat gold, is adorned with a row of ivy leafs between textured scalloped edges. The design is never-ending, creating a pattern all the way around the finger.
Ivy leafs were a popular design during the Victorian era. Since ivy naturally adheres where it grows it's used to symbolise an attachment and often seen in wedding jewellery during the 19th century. This ring dates to the very late 19th century, 1899, British in origin.
In very good condition.
Hallmarked for 18 carat gold, assayed in Chester 1899.
