Vintage white topaz and silver clip on earrings. A large round cut white topaz is set in a buttercup style setting. The settings are eight claw which are wider than the gemstones. This allows the metal underneath the gemstones to reflect light back to the viewer and makes them appear larger. Not that these need it but the effect is amazing! These earrings are clip ons which have sprung backs allowing them to be clipped to the ears without the need for pierced earrings. Circa 1930s - 1940s, French in origin.

Stamped on the side with French hallmarks and on the back with what may be a maker's mark. Tested and assessed as chrome plated sterling silver. Because silver tarnishes sometimes it was plated in bright chrome which provides both the shine and keeps it from tarnishing.

Topaz: white, round cut, approx 7.5 mm each. One is a bit more yellow in colour than the other.

Setting measures approx 9.5 mm wide.

Weigh 3.95 grams.
