Vintage mid century platinum set diamond engagement ring. The centre stone is a transitional cut diamond of approx 0.55 carats which is set into a square shaped setting. The setting is very slightly wider than the diamond making the diamond look square in shape and assisting in protecting the girdle. Set into the shoulders are four full cut diamonds, two on each side. The accent diamonds are set into u shaped claws and the platinum comes to a point leading to a softened knife edge shank. Circa 1920s, likely North American in origin.

Transitional cut diamonds are a predecessor of modern round brilliant cut diamonds. This diamond displays a larger table than older cut diamonds while still having a small open culet and a beautiful flowery facet pattern.

Diamonds: transitional cut centre, measures approx 5.12 - 5.14 mm and is estimated in setting as 0.50 carats, G/H colour, VS2/SI1 clarity. Four accent side stones are between 0.02 carat and 0.03 carats each to total 0.10 carats. Total carat weight, calculated within the limits of the setting is 0.60 carats.

Stamped 10% IRID PLAT. This ring is tested and assessed as Platinum.
