Heavy 9 carat gold antique curb link chain necklace. This is such an incredible necklace! It's super heavy and is choker length, just skimming the base of the neck, right above the collar bones. The chunky links are graduated with one end terminating at a large swivelling dog clip and other at a jump ring. These ends could be worn to the front to secure a large decorative pendant. Circa late 19th to early 20th century, British in origin.
Stamped 9c on the dog clip, professionally tested and assessed as 9 carat gold throughout. The gold is between yellow and rose gold, as antique gold often is. To our eyes it's much closer to yellow gold in colour.
Measures approx 39 cm / 15.5 inches long. Widest links are 9.5 mm tapering down to 5.9 mm.
Weighs 55.4 grams. This is an incredibly heavy necklace.
