Antique sterling silver oval link chain. This piece would have originally been used as a gentleman's chain for a pocket watch, known as a double Albert. This style of piece is still popular and is now often worn by women as a necklace. It's crafted from a series of long oval, trombone shaped links alternating with three smaller round links. The links are heavy and sturdy, made from 1.55 mm rounded wire and joined together. At one end of the chain is a dog clip (which may be a replacement) and at the other is a large jump ring. In the centre is a large t-bar. Circa early 20th century.

Hallmarked for sterling silver on the t-bar, date letter for 1923. Several of the links are stamped with the lion passant.

Measures 43 cm / 17 inches long by 6.2 mm wide.

Weighs 29 grams.
