Antique wide ivy leaf sterling silver bracelet. This wide bracelet is engraved with ivy leaves on the front half. On either side of the engraved design is a plain, shiny band of silver. Ivy leaves symbolise everlasting love, clinging to each other. The back half of this bangle is plain and it's oval in shape so that the design stays on the top of the wrist. This bracelet is fully hallmarked with clear marks for the maker, Horace Woodward, and the date. Circa 1880s, British in origin.
In very good condition with minor dents and scratches in keeping with age and wear.
Fully hallmarked for sterling silver, assayed in Birmingham, date letter for 1882. There is also a maker's mark of HW for Horace Woodward & Co .
Measures approx 3.17 cm / 1.25 inches wide. Measures 16.5 cm / 6.5 inside circumference. This bracelet is oval in shape so fits the wrist and the design stays on top. The inside is approx 5.77 cm / 2.27 inches by 4.8 cm / 1.89 inches in diameter.
Weighs 39.95 grams. This bangle has a substantial weight to it.
