Antique Victorian era 9 carat gold earrings. I've amassed quite a collection of Victorian earrings and I'm having a bit of trouble parting with them. The love knot at the bottom of these is beautiful and has great movement. What really draws me to these though is the intricate work on the centre panel. The panel is rectangular in shape and lightly textured. Chevron shapes are cut into the long sides and the bright metal shines against the background of the textured pattern. Set down the centre are three beads with rope like metal work forming four pointed stars around each. Scroll work lines the side of the panel, curving at the bottom to accent the shape of the knot drop.

These earrings are pierced and fitted with simple hook ear wires. Rather unusually for the time period the back of the panels contain full hallmarks. The maker is C&Co, possibly Carrington & Co.

Fully hallmarked for 9 carat gold, assayed in Birmingham, date letter for 1893.

Measure approx 5.17 cm / 2.04 inches long by 1.49 cm / 0.59 inches at widest point.

Weigh 5.9 grams.
