Lovely pair of heart shaped late Victorian drop earrings set with cultured pearls and sapphires. The pierced ear wires are set with a small white cultured half pearl near the bottom. A long tapered faceted bar of gold connects an incredible love heart shape in a knot of gold rope. The gold rope forms the lobes of the hearts before passing through the opposite side, interconnecting. Toward the point of each of the heart is a single wonderfully blue oval cut sapphire. These earrings are circa late 1800s.
These earrings are likely to be two pieces combined with the top pearl set and long pair from a different piece of jewellery than the heart shaped drops. They suit each other and go well together.

Seed pearls: half cultured pearls, approx 1.8 mm wide.
Not marked, tested as 9 carat gold.
Measure 3.7 cm / 1.45 inches long and are approx 9 mm at widest point.
