Antique silver and wax pearl chandelier earrings dating to the Edwardian era. These long earrings are designed as pierced earrings with a little wax pearl set to the bottom. From there dangles a large fan shape filigree section from which strings of round pearls with a drop shape pearl at the end. Circa 1900s - 1910, British in origin.
Wax pearls are a type of faux pearl. They are made of wax with a pearlescent coating. They are hard and durable, made at a time when pearls were popular but expensive before cultured pearls became easily accessible.
Tested as silver, at least 800 silver, slightly lower than the modern standard of 925.
Measures7 cm / 2.75 inches long and are approx 1.8 cm / 0.75 inches wide.
Weigh 8.75 grams.
